Lassa Fever: Patient escapes hospital quarantine in Ebonyi

Panic surfaced as a man undergoing treatment for Lassa fever in Ebonyi state fled the hospital facility. The man’s whereabouts is currently unknown, and Minister for Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, has expressed anger over the incident, demanding that the man be found.

“He should be traced and taken back to the facility,” Adewole said. “He should be reassured that he will live if the treatment is done promptly as he could not have absconded on his own without the support of the health officers.”

Adewole also criticized the Ebonyi state government for its poor handling of the disease, slamming them for transferring patients to Edo state when they had health centres.
