The Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, announced that the Federal Government has approved the release of the 2014 admission list into Federal Unity Colleges across the country. He gave the approval on Wednesday in Abuja and directed all prospective candidates to check their admission status online at www.fmeinterviewtest.com .
The government had earlier in the year re-introduced aptitude test in the admission of Federal Unity Colleges to ensure that only qualified candidates would be admitted into the schools.
Wike stated that merit would henceforth play a major requirement in the admission of students into the 104 Federal Unity Colleges.
According to him, merit has been placed above other considerations, such as catchment area, environmental factors and state quota, because of the need to inculcate the right values in the future generations.
He said, “This successful conduct of the aptitude test is a step towards enthroning merit in our Federal Unity Colleges. We have re-positioned these schools in terms of facilities and quality of teachers, hence subscription for placements have increased tremendously.”
Wike said that from reports he received from independent monitors across the country, the aptitude tests were peaceful on account of measures put in place by the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Examination Council.
