The embattled Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state on Tuesday impeached by the State House of Assembly. He was impeached after the state House of Assembly deliberated upon the report submitted by a seven-man investigative panel probing allegations of financial misconducts against him and his deputy, Bala Ngilari, who also resigned to avoid impeachment.
It was gathered that, 18 out of the 24 members of the Assembly voted to impeach the governor.
The House of Assembly also following the impeachment declared
the Speaker Hon Umaru Fintiri to be sworn in as the new Acting
governor of the state.
