Delta varsity staff kidnapped as Abductors demand N5m ransom

A Staff  of the Delta State University, Abraka, Mr. John Ogeleke has been kidnapped by some suspected Fulani herdsmen at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State on state

A source in the community told our correspondent   that the herdsmen have demanded N5 million as ransom for the victim’s release, lamenting that Ogume  has become a centre of attraction for kidnappers.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident, said the victim  was kidnapped when he was heading towards Ogume from Kwale in his Nissan Pathfinder jeep.

She also said  that four  Fulani men  armed with guns and sticks came from a nearby bush, forcing  the vehicle to a stop, as they took him to the bush.

Still Speaking, she  said that the Police in Kwale division,vigilante team members, men of Dragon 25 police patrol team and reinforcement from nearby divisions are already in search for the culprits.

Kalu  however said that the Fulani leader in Kwale, Alhaji Mudi, has been beckoned upon to aid in the search of the terrorists because of the various camps located there.
